Terms of Service
Last updated 2026-09-29
These terms are the agreement between you and us about using Pelipact. They say what you can expect from us, what we expect from you, and what happens if something goes wrong. Where the law gives you a right as a consumer we say so plainly, because in the Netherlands and the rest of the European Union those rights apply whatever a contract says.
1.Who we are
Pelipact is run by Pelipact, Van Heemstraweg 123, 6651 KH Druten, The Netherlands. In these terms, we and us mean Pelipact, and you means the person using Pelipact, with an account or on a guest seat.
You can reach us at info@pelipact.com. We answer mail in the order it arrives and aim to reply within a few working days.
2.Accepting these terms
You accept these terms when you create an account or take a seat at a table as a guest. If you do not accept them, do not use Pelipact.
Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy apply alongside these terms. Where the app shows you a specific rule in context, that rule applies as well.
3.What Pelipact is, and what it is not
Pelipact is a place where couples, housemates and friends trade favours at a shared table. You make pacts, keep vouchers and cash them in, use your table's own play money, stock a small Store, react in the Feed and, if your table turns it on, open a Mystery Chest.
- A pact is a promise between the people who make it. It is not meant to be legally binding, and we are not a party to it. Pelipact keeps track of pacts; it does not enforce them.
- Every favour is voluntary. Anyone can say “Not this one”, ask for a rain check, take a breather, release or hand back a voucher, or leave a table.
- Pelipact is not a payment service, a bank, a marketplace or a game of chance for money. Nothing in it has any money value.
4.Who can use Pelipact
- You must be 16 or older. You confirm this when you sign up or take a seat.
- There are no accounts for children, and nobody may use Pelipact on a child's behalf.
- To buy premium, once it exists, you must be able to enter into a binding contract where you live.
- One person, one account. Do not create an account for someone we have suspended or banned.
If we learn that someone under 16 uses Pelipact, we delete their account. Parents and guardians can write to info@pelipact.com about this.
5.Your account
You can use Pelipact with a saved account or on a guest seat.
- A guest seat has no email address or password and lives in the browser you sat down in. Save your seat with a passkey or an email address to keep it. If you lose that browser or clear its cookies first, the seat cannot be recovered.
- Use an email address you control. We use it for password resets and security messages, and to confirm that a request comes from you.
- Choose a strong, unique password, or use a passkey. We store passwords only as hashes, so we cannot tell you yours.
- If you sign in with a password, turn on two-factor authentication. It is the best thing you can do to keep your account safe.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account while it is signed in. Tell us at info@pelipact.com as soon as you think someone else got in, and we will help you lock it down.
Your account is personal. Do not sell it, rent it, share it or hand it to anyone else. Pick a display name that does not pretend to be someone else, advertise anything or insult anyone. We may ask you to change a name that breaks this rule, and change it ourselves if you do not.
6.Your table's play money
Every table has its own make-believe currency, such as Gold, Wood or Diamonds. Only the players make it, and always for someone else.
- It has no money value. It is not money, not electronic money and not a means of payment.
- It can never be bought with real money, sold, cashed out or moved to another table.
- Do not trade it, or anything bought with it, for real money or anything else outside Pelipact, in the app or elsewhere.
- When you leave a Den or Crew, your Gold sleeps until you come back. When a Duo ends or you delete your account, it goes back to thin air.
- If a table's coins ever stop adding up, we pause them until we have checked them.
7.The Store and the Mystery Chest
Members stock the Store with favours they will do themselves, priced in play money. What you buy there is a voucher from that member, not something from us.
- The Mystery Chest is off until the table turns it on, and each member decides whether to join in.
- Everything in the Chest is a favour a member put in themselves. We never add prizes.
- An open costs play money only, or the other members give you a free one. Real money can never open the Chest or buy better chances.
- The chances are shown before every open. The draw happens on our server with a cryptographically secure random number generator, and every open keeps a record of how it was picked.
- Nothing in the Chest has any money value, and nothing that comes out of it can be sold, traded or cashed out.
9.Using Pelipact fairly
Pelipact only works if people treat each other well. Do not do any of the following.
- Pressure or harassment. Do not threaten, bully, stalk, demean or sexualize anyone, and do not use Pelipact to push someone into a favour.
- Harmful content. Do not put anything illegal, dangerous, hateful or sexually explicit in names, pacts, listings or the Chest, and do not arrange favours that are illegal or unsafe.
- Cheating. Do not modify the app, forge requests to our servers, or use anything that gives you coins or anything else Pelipact did not give you.
- Automation. No bots, scripts or other ways of using Pelipact without a person behind them.
- Exploiting bugs. If you find a bug that gives you an advantage, stop using it and tell us at info@pelipact.com. We would much rather thank you than ban you.
- Attacking the service. No scraping at volume, load testing, probing for holes or interfering with other people's connections. Responsible security research is welcome if you contact us first.
- Trading for real money. Do not sell accounts, seats, play money, vouchers or Chest things for real money, and do not run Pelipact as a service for others.
- Illegal use. Do not use Pelipact to break the law or to infringe anyone's rights.
- Reverse engineering beyond what the law allows. Your legal rights to interoperability and error correction stand; anything beyond them is not allowed.
Nobody ever has to do a favour they do not want to do. “Not this one”, a rain check, a breather, a release and leaving the table are always there.
11.Your 14-day right of withdrawal
As a consumer buying online, you have 14 days from the day you buy premium to withdraw from the purchase, without giving a reason.
Premium is a service, and we only start it within those 14 days if you ask us to. So at checkout we ask you to confirm two things:
- That you want premium to start straight away, within the 14 days.
- That you understand that if you then withdraw, you get your money back minus the part for the days you already had premium.
We confirm both in the receipt we email you, on a durable medium, because the law requires it. If you do not ask for an early start, premium begins when the 14 days are over, and withdrawing before then costs you nothing.
To withdraw, tell us at info@pelipact.com within the 14 days. Any clear statement is enough, and you may use the EU model withdrawal form. The refund goes through Polar Software Inc. (Polar), to the payment method you used, within 14 days of your message, at no cost to you.
Using Pelipact for free costs you nothing and commits you to nothing. You can stop whenever you like, and none of this section applies to it.
12.Availability, and changes to Pelipact
We work to keep Pelipact running, but we cannot promise it will never stop. Maintenance, hosting problems, attacks and bugs happen.
- We plan maintenance for quiet hours where we can, and announce it in the app beforehand.
- We may change, add or remove features to improve Pelipact or to keep it safe.
- If we close Pelipact for good, we tell you in the app, and by email if we have your address, at least 30 days before. We stop selling premium before that notice and refund the unused part of anything you paid for.
- We may pause the service at once during a security incident or an attack, and we explain as soon as we reasonably can.
If a change clearly harms premium you paid for, the Dutch rules implementing the Digital Content Directive let you end that contract and get a proportionate refund. We will tell you clearly before such a change.
13.What you put into Pelipact
Your content is what you add: your display name, table names, item names and small print, Store listings, Chest things and the messages you send us.
- You keep whatever rights you have in it.
- You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, copy, show and adapt it as far as running Pelipact requires, including showing it to the people at your tables. The license lasts as long as the content is in Pelipact, and for backup copies until they are replaced.
- What you put into a pact, the Feed or the Chest stays part of that table's history after you leave, as described in “Sharing a table”.
- You confirm that your content is yours to share and breaks no one's rights and none of these terms.
- We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law, and we tell you when we do.
If you believe something in Pelipact infringes your copyright or another right, write to info@pelipact.com with enough detail to find it, and we will look at it promptly.
14.Our intellectual property
Pelipact, its code, its design, Peli the pelican, its pixel art, sounds and texts, and the name Pelipact belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. Some parts, such as the Twemoji icons, come from others under their own licenses.
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use Pelipact for your own, non-commercial purposes, under these terms. Everything else stays with us. You may share screenshots and videos of your own use, as long as you do not present them as official or use our branding to suggest that we made or back them.
15.Suspension and termination
You can stop at any time: leave your tables, delete your account in the app, or ask us at info@pelipact.com. That ends this agreement. Terms that by their nature outlive it, such as intellectual property and liability, carry on.
We can suspend or close an account if you break these terms, if the law requires it, if there is fraud, or if the account is used to harm others. How we go about it depends on how serious it is.
- For most breaches we warn you first, tell you what is wrong and give you a chance to fix it.
- For serious breaches, such as harassment, fraud or attacking the service, we may suspend at once.
- We tell you the reason, unless the law stops us or telling you would harm an investigation into fraud or abuse.
- You can appeal any decision by replying to us at info@pelipact.com. A person will look at it and explain the outcome.
- If we close your account because you broke these terms, premium ends without a refund, except where consumer law says otherwise. If we close it through no fault of yours, we refund the unused part of any premium you paid for.
16.When things go wrong, and who is liable
Many terms of service try to disclaim everything. In the Netherlands that does not work against a consumer, so we will not try. Here is the honest position.
What we owe you. Pelipact has to match its description and do what you can reasonably expect of an app like this. For premium you paid for, that is your conformity right under the Dutch rules implementing the Digital Content Directive: if it is faulty, tell us and we will fix it. If we cannot do that within a reasonable time and without serious inconvenience to you, you can ask for a price reduction, or end the contract and get a refund. This costs you nothing and comes on top of everything else in these terms.
What we never limit:
- Liability for death or personal injury caused by our fault.
- Liability for intent or gross negligence by us or our management.
- Liability under mandatory Dutch consumer law, including your conformity rights.
- Anything else the law says cannot be limited.
What we do limit. Outside those cases, we are liable only for damage we could reasonably foresee when you accepted these terms, up to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event, with a minimum of 50 euros so that someone who never paid is not left with nothing. We are not liable for lost play money, vouchers or history as such, for favours that the people at your table do or do not do, or for what other members do at a table you chose to share.
Pelipact is provided as it is, with no promises beyond what the law requires and what these terms say. We do not promise that it is free of bugs or always available.
If any part of this section turns out to be unenforceable, it is reduced to what the law allows and the rest stands. Nothing here takes away a right you have as a consumer under Dutch or EU law.
17.Complaints and disputes
Come to us first at info@pelipact.com: say what happened and what you would like us to do. We confirm receipt within 14 days and give you a full answer as soon as we can.
The European Commission's online dispute resolution platform closed in July 2025, so there is no EU-wide portal for complaints any more. You can take a dispute to the competent Dutch court, and as a consumer you can also go to the courts where you live.
Complaints about how we handle personal data can go to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, as our Privacy Policy explains.
18.Governing law
Dutch law governs these terms and any dispute about them. If you are a consumer living in another EU or EEA country, you keep the protection of that country's mandatory rules, and where they give you more, they apply.
Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, without affecting your right as a consumer to go to court where you live.
19.Changes to these terms
We will need to change these terms from time to time, because Pelipact and the law change. Every version shows the date it took effect.
- For a change that affects your rights or duties, we give you at least 30 days' notice in the app, and by email if we have your address.
- If you do not accept a change, you can close your account before it takes effect, and we refund the unused part of any premium you paid for.
- If you keep using Pelipact after a change takes effect, you accept it.
- Small corrections, such as a typo, a broken link or an out-of-date address, take effect when we publish them.
20.The rest
- These terms, the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Pelipact.
- If part of these terms is invalid, the rest still applies, and the invalid part is replaced by the closest valid rule.
- If we do not enforce something straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours to a company that takes over Pelipact; if we do, we tell you first, and you may close your account if you would rather not continue.
- These terms are written in English. If a translation says something different, the English version applies, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
Questions about any of this go to info@pelipact.com. We would rather explain than have you guess.
